DAY 9 - STANDING IN THE GAP

Aug 18, 2026

THE WORD

"I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one."—Ezekiel 22:30

THE BURDEN

Those are some of the saddest words in the Old Testament. God looked across an entire nation for one person willing to stand in the gap—and found nobody. Not one person willing to pray. Not one person willing to position themselves between a holy God and a people racing toward destruction.

Don't let that be said of you.

A gap is the space between where someone is and where God wants them to be. Every lost person in your life has a gap. And God is looking for someone willing to stand in it—to plant their feet, bow their head, and refuse to move until heaven responds. Intercession is not a spiritual gift reserved for a few—it is the call of every believer who understands what is at stake.

The person you are praying for cannot pray for themselves the way you can. They don't yet know the God who hears. They don't yet have access to the throne. But you do. And when you pray for them you are standing in the gap—holding the space between their lostness and God's grace until the day they can stand there themselves.

Someone stood in the gap for you once. Now it's your turn.

THE PRAYER

Lord, I plant my feet in the gap today for the person I am praying for. I stand between their lostness and Your grace and I ask You to move. I refuse to give up, grow cold, or walk away. Use my prayers as a wall of protection around them and a force that draws them toward You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The name I am praying for:

FOR YOUR PRAYER PARTNER

Share with your prayer partner who stood in the gap for you—who prayed you into the Kingdom. Thank God together for that person. Then recommit together to being that person for the one you are praying for.
