DAY 14 - PERSISTENT PRAYER THAT MOVES HEAVEN
THE WORD
"Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart."—Luke 18:1
THE BURDEN
Jesus told this parable for one reason—because He knew we would want to quit.
A widow kept coming to an unjust judge with one request. He didn't care about her. He didn't fear God. He had every reason to ignore her. But she kept coming. Day after day. The same request. The same door. The same need. And eventually her persistence wore him down and he gave her what she asked for.
Then Jesus made the point that should stop us cold—if an unjust judge responds to persistence, how much more will a loving Father respond to His children who cry out to Him day and night?
You are not bothering God when you pray the same prayer for the same person for the fourteenth day in a row. You are not being repetitive or faithless. You are being exactly what Jesus told you to be—persistent. Relentless. Unwilling to lose heart.
Today marks two weeks of praying for the person on your list. The temptation right now is to wonder if anything is happening. It is. You may not see it yet, but heaven has been moving since Day 1 and your persistent prayer is part of what keeps it moving.
Don't lose heart. Keep going. The Judge of all the earth is also your Father—and He hears every word.
THE PRAYER
Father, I will not lose heart. I come to You again today with the same name, the same request, and the same faith. I trust that You are working even when I cannot see it. Give me the persistence of the widow and the confidence of a child who knows their Father hears them. In Jesus' name, Amen.
The name I am praying for:
FOR YOUR PRAYER PARTNER
Celebrate two weeks together. Remind each other of what God has already stirred in your hearts since day 1. Then pray with fresh persistence—not out of duty but out of love for the One who told you not to quit.
