Day 9 - Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature

When a person is born again by repentance of sin and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, they become a new creation. They are no longer what they once were but are now a fundamentally different being. They belong to Jesus Christ with an entirely new identity.

There is now a necessity for this new identity in Christ to grow so that new behaviors eventually accompany the new identity. The challenge for the believer involves focusing on Christ and the truth that you have been changed. The reason some believers stunt their growth comes through the error of continuing to live their former identity while neglecting the truth of their present one.

This passage reminds us that we are completely forgiven and new and when we own that truth the Lord grows us in holiness that is accompanied with great joy.

Prayer Prompt

Today as you pray, will you ask God to help you to let go of your former identity when you didn’t know Christ? Will you ask God to reveal to you your new identity? Will you ask God

to help you believe and live out your new identity?
