Day 8 - Upon this rock I will build My church

Jesus Christ made a promise during His earthly ministry that He continues to keep nearly 2000 years later. Before Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead, He promised that He would build His church and that even the gates of Hades would not overpower it. The Church of Jesus Christ is the vehicle through which He

uses His saints to edify the saints and advance His kingdom. While the Church has suffered great harm from both inside and out, she still remains a testimony of God’s Word. Serving the Lord Jesus Christ through a local church is a must for every believer. The best way to grow spiritually is not only by attending a church, but by willingly using your gifts to serve the Lord with His people. The Church is the Bride of Christ and how you love and serve His Church demonstrates your love for Him.

Prayer Prompt

Today as you pray, will you ask the Lord for how you can best serve the local church to honor Him? Will you ask God to use your local church to fullest possible extent for His glory? Will you ask the Lord for your local church to have a greater and greater influence for the Lord Jesus Christ?
